On Friday 1st July 2011, The Guild of Dog Trainers launched their Balanced, Intelligent Dog Training campaign.

Quote - ''The majority of dog trainers in Great Britain are sensible, practical and highly skilled trainers who live and train in the real world. They believe in, and use, reward based training techniques.

That doesn’t mean that they wave bits of chicken around desperately trying to get wayward dogs to prefer food to fulfilling their own, natural drives.  Rather they use common sense training for the owner’s lifestyle and environment which means rewarding when appropriate but applying discipline when necessary" - Unquote, read more on this sensible approach which we adopt on their web site

PDSA report reinforces value of pet specialist the Pet Care Trust response ....

The PDSA has recently released a report on animal wellbeing below is a response from the Pet Care Trust for further information contact their web site
www.petcare.org.uk

Quote - "The Pet Care Trade Association works closely with its members to promote responsible pet ownership. Pet Specialists are able, through their daily interaction with pet owners in pet shops, grooming salons, boarding kennels and batteries and other services, to advise pet owners on suitable dietary requirements, accessories and proper travel equipment.

Janet Nunn, Chief Executive for the Pet Care Trade Association, comments: “The UK is still in difficult economic times, so pet owners need to spend their money wisely on their beloved animals. *There are 13,000 pet specialist businesses in the UK employing 78,000 pet care professionals who are variously competent and qualified to give advice on good pet health and welfare to meet a pet’s needs.

”It’s also worth remembering that pet stores that sell pets have to be licensed, inspected and qualified to level 3 in pet care management, which is equivalent to an A level standard and the same level required to be veterinary nurse. I urge pet owners take full advantage of this free advice.”- Unquote.
