Fully Equipped Grooming Unit
The well equipped grooming unit enables students to apply practical skills in bathing, grooming, clipping, styling and trimming and accommodates all breeds. Students are taught to groom to Kennel Club Breed Standard. One unique feature is the ability to groom disabled dogs using specialist mobility equipment if needed.
However, students are requested to supply their own grooming equipment for Professional Level Two Courses and upwards, an equipment list is supplied with details on how to obtain student discounts on all products from a leading supplier.
Behavioural Practice & Location
The behavioural clinic is in relaxed surroundings and combines a comfortable and safe indoor consultation room to sit and discuss your dog's problems and an outdoor secure area for practical assessments. The outdoor area consists of fully fenced & secure paddock, however for some outside work, sessions like our Behavioural Walks, difficulties with traffic etc are also held within Stanmer Park in Brighton, subject to weather and available light. When it is more beneficial and safer for the dog or owners, sessions are carried out in the owner's home.
Indoor Dog Training Area & Outdoor Paddock
Specialist 1-2-1 and puppy classes can be held in the training area or in the fully fenced outdoor paddock. The outdoor paddock houses our comprehensive agility equipment for fun agility training and behavioural work. We also have a larger indoor puppy play area and classroom for lecturers and talks on Behaviour, Grooming and other subjects. Training sessions available include agility, flyball, tracking, clicker, handling and scent work.

We request that all dogs are kept on lead on the Farm unless authorised to run free by a member of the staff team.
Café, Free Wireless Internet Study & Resource Library
As part of student and client services there is a small café area where students can sit with soft drinks, a range of teas and freshly ground coffee and a variety of cakes and snacks, with free wireless internet access. There is a well stocked reference library that has many publications and published papers covering a range of subjects, computer access and free internet access for students only. We are also planning an outdoor seating garden for Spring 2012.
Classroom & Training Areas
We have two classrooms and all training areas are designed for the students to enjoy lectures comfortably. Courses are delivered by trained lecturers who are specialists in their chosen field. The modern training equipment used to deliver courses is supported by hand out DVD,s and stooge dogs and other animals may be provided for practical application where needed, dependent on the course content. As The dog Hut conforms works within a Green Policy students are requested to supply memory sticks for lecture notes, additional reference material, comprehensive induction and other course materials.
Physical Rehabilitation Unit
We are currently building our hydrotherapy pool area with large outdoor pool and hot spa. This is due for completion for autumn 2011.
Student Support & Special Needs
Courses are designed to ensure that the majority of the course is scheduled lecturer contact time, 1-2-1 tutorials are also available. Students with special needs may be partnered with support workers, we are also able to provide coloured materials and specialist Fonts if preferred. Should you require additional support in any way please make this known on your Course Application form. The Dog Hut.Biz also houses ‘From the Hart Foundation’ - for Work Based Learning’ a non profit organisation that supports young and mature special needs students, so please call to discuss your individual requirements.
The majority of the College is accessible by Wheelchair and we are continuing to work towards a Disability Friendly Policy.
