The Canine Studies College is a Professional Independent Teaching College that provides an excellent learner experience.

College operates within a set of 'Core Teaching Values' to ensure
students leave with a combination of excellent theory underpinning their
chosen topic, combined with excellent practical application and skills
training.
We
do not operate a casual 'on the job learning experience', but provide a
first class and accountable teaching environment where students are

The
teaching structure encourages students to take all units from their
City & Guilds or ABC courses.

of the grooming process and real support in your studies, this helps

your own, either in your own business or working within a professional
salon.
Comprehensive hand outs and additional support material. Our
support material helps you learn in an organised and supportive way and
takes you step by step through the City & Guilds course structure
and assessments. Producing case studies and building a portfolio
facilitates student confidence, helps provide essential materials for
later, when working in your own business or as part of a professional
salon and helps to make your study and exam preparation easier.
Flexible
study and course options, if you want to study 1 day, 2 day, 3 day or 4
days a week we can accommodate your choice of course schedule even if
you need your schedule to differ each week. If
busy working or running a busy personal life studying is not always
easy, our completely flexible approach to teaching in the real world
means we can fit you in whenever you are ready and
whenever you want to study, helping you plan your life sensibly, we help
to reduce your stress with the support of a flexible timetable.
Studying without Term Time restrictions means that tutors are available
at all times of the year to support and train you.
Teaching
takes place in a superb farm location in a dedicated grooming parlour
and classroom structure with a small number of students in each class. As
a full time teaching college classes are structured to support student
learning and theory work is delivered in comfortable, quiet and
dedicated classrooms helping you to relax and get the most out of your
learning experience. The spacious and relaxing farm environment means
you can study, learn and carry out practical applications without
feeling hemmed in or under pressure and with a maximum of six students
(often less) in your class you have plenty of quality time with your
tutor to ask questions, recap and discuss topics in depth.
Flexible payment options with individual payment plans. Whether you
wish to pay your course fees in one payment by bank transfer, cheque or
cash or whether you wish to pay monthly or weekly we can organise a
payment plan to suit your needs. Providing your course fees are paid by
the time your course ends we can help and you needn't pay your course
examination fees until you feel ready to take your exam. Leaving the
money in your bank until you are ready.
We teach a small number of students at any one time and are situated at Sewells Farm in Barcombe surrounded by 110 Acres of Farmland. The historic and pretty town of Lewes, East Sussex on the River Ouse is about 6 minutes away and the College is just 41 miles from London.
There are several footpaths surrounding the College and within Barcombe. There are plenty of shops, cafés and restaurants in Lewes and plenty of local accommodation with the City of Brighton less than ten miles away, Bus and rail services are all within easy reach and the College offers lifts from Cooksbridge, Uckfield and Lewes rail stations. The Sussex Downs is at its doorstep with further opportunity for walking and riding.
Established as one of the first specialist Canine Teaching Colleges and combined commercial centres in the UK, the College offers a wide range of quality education services to the student including part time, module, and correspondence courses, and specialises in intensive fast track or personalised teaching, for students from the UK, Europe and further afield, covering a wide range of topics related to the canine industry.
If you are looking to start a new career, have been made redundant or are making a career change mid life, the centre also offers Small Business Skills Training. Courses run from entry level to Advanced Level 3 and with Level 4 and HE planned for the future.

The Dog Hut.Biz is also a fully working commercial centre including professional dog grooming, training and a behavioural clinic, students are encouraged to carry out work experience within real life situations. Apprenticeship schemes or 'work exchange for study' opportunities may also be available from time to time.
